Important Things to Consider Before Buying a Copper Sink

Copper sinks make an elegant statement in any kitchen, and offer rustic charm at the same time. Furthermore, copper is an attractive way to update their home with something distinctive that will be the talk of all their friends and family - but before making this leap there are a few important factors you need to keep in mind first.

Copper sinks don't retain their shiny, brand new finish indefinitely - which could be either beneficial or detrimental depending on your personal preferences for their earthy, lived-in look over time. A reliable seller should make this clear prior to sale and offer warranties against defects in their copper sinks.

Thickness (also called gauge) of copper will play an integral part in how long-lasting your sink is. Thicker copper resists denting from heavy pots and pans while being less likely to produce hollow drumming noise when running water, which some copper sinks may do.

Not to forget, copper is a natural material and will react with acidic foods and cleaning products that come into contact with it, leading to patina formation over time if left exposed without care. To reduce this problem, keep acidic food away from your copper sink, dry thoroughly after every use, and apply wax polish in order to slow the progression of patina formation.
