Dripping faucets can be one of the most annoying household problems, and finding an effective solution may seem daunting. But once you understand which kind of faucet it is and know its type, fixing it shouldn't be all that challenging or expensive to complete yourself.
Before beginning, shut off all water from under your sink using its supply valves. Next, clog up any drains with rags to collect any debris that may fall down into it during your project.
Step Two: Unscrew and Set Aside the Faucet Handle To unscrew your faucet handle, use either a screwdriver or Allen key and unscrew it using the appropriate tool. Be aware that some models feature decorative covers over screws which should also be removed prior to beginning work on your project.
Once you've removed the handle, it should be easy to see the valve stem assembly. Loosen the retaining nut and stem with a wrench before taking further steps to unassemble it.
Once you have removed the stem, carefully inspect its O-ring. If worn-down parts need replacement, replace them with new ones; coat all new O-rings with nontoxic heat-proof plumber's grease before reassembling your stem.
