Detroit-based direct-to-consumer brand floyd is looking to change that. Their modular sofa is built for longevity and can expand with family needs or change as needs and family size evolve - plus, its cover protects from spills, stains, and pet scratches!
floyd is constructed from FSC-certified birch or pine plywood frames that customers can choose between being upholstered or un-upholstered, as well as having its structure glued and screwed rather than nailed together for optimal shape retention over time - this feature is particularly important for parents with pets or anyone hosting guests frequently.
The seat cushion features three densities of foam to ensure a soft landing for any position of lounging, while also seamlessly fitting with any style of home decor; its minimalistic style works with any design taste and its 22-inch seat depth is likely an issue for taller adults.
After giving the Floyd Sofa a test run myself, I can vouch that this sofa-in-a-box really lives up to its reputation. Sturdy enough for kids and pets, easy assembly/disassembly/moving, it will complement any decor style beautifully, while being exceptionally comfortable to sit on (though slightly firmer cushions would have been preferred by myself).
