A needlework sampler depicting the Dewitt Clinton locomotive from 1831 is in excellent condition with only minor signs of wear. This work measures 16 1/4" x 18 1/2".
DeWitt could easily lead the life of a trophy wife, living at their Ladue estate and appearing with her husband at sports and society events. Though supportive of his philanthropic work, DeWitt doesn't appear comfortable acting in an understudy role.
DeWitt set out to create her own niche in the business, and has done just that. Today she serves as CEO and founder of Notifi Records in Brentwood; an urban music label home to R&B stars Ginuwine, Johnny Gill and the trio Bos.
Gill will release Still Winning on October 11th through his label.
DeWitt has come under scrutiny for not spending big money on free agents during her 15 years as owner of the Cardinals, yet she doesn't view the team as a profit center like some professional sports owners (Stan Kroenke for instance). "Draft and develop is where we want to go and then we'll see," DeWitt told St Louis Post-Dispatch this month, noting they hadn't agreed to sign anyone outside their organization to a long-term contract before now. That strategy has worked; 5 playoff appearances since DeWitt took charge; 7 seasons have made the playoffs already, leaving only 11 games left before finishing at first place of NL Central!
