Cask Bar + Kitchen, an iconic Murray Hill spot specializing in all things handcrafted - beers, cocktails and food--is a local favorite. The dimly lit space recalls a bygone era of craftsmanship and authenticity with wood beams, filament light bulbs and Cask tops fixed into walls as vintage accents. Their drink menu boasts cask conditioned beers, innovative cocktails and wine to complement gastropub-inspired fare; in the kitchen their rustic theme continues with cheeses, charcuterie and small plates while their Cellar Bar can accommodate private events featuring full draft systems for private events.
Staff is friendly and accommodating, offering helpful recommendations about which beers and dishes would pair perfectly. There is also a fantastic happy hour that offers very reasonably priced drinks - although it can get busy, once it has settled it's a pleasant place for an enjoyable evening full of good beer and food.
My favorite dish at Thistle Farms is their roasted lamb nachos, though I have also sampled their Philly Cheese Spring Rolls, Redneck Sushi and Truffle Mac N Cheese which were all exceptional. Their Blood Orange Jalapeno Margarita is really yummy too - plus there is ample seating - either by the bar in front or behind; or at a table. And don't forget their cozy atmosphere that welcomes everyone and provides plenty of seating with tables both front and back; plus there is even a bar in back that provides fun environments to gather at.
Within just over one year of its original opening as SOU! Southern Kitchen & Bar at 9980 Linn Station Road in November 2019, CASK Southern Kitchen & Bar will reopen this month as CASK Southern Kitchen & Bar - and is well deserving of consideration and support as a beverage and dining venue with an exciting food menu that strays away from traditional pub fare typical on this stretch of Linn Station Road - marking an exciting change for this neighborhood establishment.
