Hotel Greene History

The legendary Hotel Greene has an intriguing past. Constructed in 1905 in an Eastern European city, it was Emil Gorski's vision to build a luxury hotel similar to London's Carlton or Savoy Hotels.

In its prime years, the hotel served as a haven for foreign dignitaries, artists, actors, spies, and saboteurs alike. Many notable people stayed there including Anastasia Romanova who reportedly spent several months there incognito during World War II.

Today the building stands as a historic hotel owned by Jim Gottier and Andrea Ball who have restored it to its original beauty. They have taken advantage of an unused piece of real estate that had lain dormant for decades, turning it into an inspiring business venture.

Upgrading a historic building requires substantial financial investments and finding an investor who shares your vision is no small task. But Jim Gottier and Andrea Ball have managed to tap into Richmond's inherent sense of romance, mystery, and adventure to bring an entirely new kind of entertainment to downtown Richmond.

Hotel Greene is offering customers a unique experience by opening 13-hole indoor mini golf and restaurant and bar designed by Citizen chef Greg Johnson. At the restaurant, enjoy cocktails and modern bar food prepared by experienced chefs. If golf isn't on your agenda, there are cozy lounge areas where guests can sit back and relax.
