A refrigerator cabinet is an effective way to conceal your standard or counter depth fridge and make the appliance blend in with the surrounding cabinetry. This method typically doesn't require demolition, making for a relatively straightforward and cost-effective project that anyone can tackle.

Most homeowners opt for a sleek and sophisticated look in their kitchen instead of an overwhelming large metal refrigerator. This allows them to express their individual style while still enjoying a sleek environment in their cooking area.

The initial step in selecting cabinet style is to match it to your existing design and color scheme. Many popular options exist, and most can be found at your local hardware store or home improvement center.

Another factor to consider when buying a refrigerator cabinet is the amount of space it will occupy. Typically, cabinets designed for refrigerators will measure 24 inches deep with an overhang on one edge of the cabinets.

If the refrigerator won't fit in this space, you may need to add cabinets above it for additional storage. This is an easy and budget-friendly project; just be sure the additional cabinets are at least 12 inches deep so as not to interfere with the capacity of your fridge or its door opening.

You could also build a wall around the refrigerator to give it an elegant, built-in appearance and make your appliances the focus of attention in the room. Depending on what type of wood you select, this project could be relatively straightforward and inexpensive to accomplish.

Consider installing a plinth under your refrigerator so you can store food, spices or other essentials. This will also give service access to the back of your fridge so you can quickly clean it or open its doors without having to bend down.

When making the decision for your home, there are a few different approaches you can take. Before selecting which approach is best suited to your requirements, take into account what works best in your circumstance and weigh all options against one another. Here are some helpful tips to help you decide which route is best:

1. Go Panel-Ready with Your Refrigerator

Panel-ready refrigerators are a popular option for homeowners who want their fridge to be the focal point of their kitchen. These fridges come with various styles and can be installed using either sliding mount system or door-on-door installation instructions. Most kits will include templates and instructions to assist you with installation of the panels.

2. Custom Panels

You have a range of styles and colors available to cover your refrigerator's front panel. Choose from beadboard, textured, or painted paneling - available at most home improvement centers or specialty retailers selling wood trim kits.

3. Choose a Framed Panel

To add an eye-catching, custom touch to your refrigerator's front, consider framing it with wood panels that complement cabinets and countertops. Stained or painted for staining or painting, these can be stained to match.

4. Opt for a Beadboard Finish

Beadboard is an ideal finish for your refrigerator's front, as it offers a warm, natural aesthetic that pairs well with most cabinetry styles. Furthermore, the soft texture provides additional depth and character to the face of your new refrigerator.
