Marfa Texas Kitchen opened recently in College Station as an eatery that pays homage to this West Texas town known for minimalist art and architecture, providing comfort food with wine or beer for an enjoyable dining experience.
This restaurant is open Tuesday to Sunday for lunch from 11AM to 2:30PM and dinner from 4:30PM until it closes, offering outdoor seating, takeout, delivery services and delivery as options for dining experiences. Their friendly staff offers takeout, delivery services as well as beverages including wine, beers and coffee to choose from!
Marfa has witnessed a recent influx of artists, fuelling the creation of galleries and revitalization of downtown. Lannan Foundation hosts writers-in-residence programs for writers at work while Crowley Theater plays host to public events; there's even Ballroom Marfa to use for multifunctional art exhibitions as well as stores selling local products.
Marfa lies at the center of West Texas' Trans-Pecos region, close to Davis Mountains and Big Bend National Park. Surrounded by desert landscapes formed over time through dry streambeds and erosion processes, Marfa offers visitors an idyllic desert experience.
It was founded as a water stop in the 1880s, reaching its peak population during the 1930s. Today, it serves as both a tourist destination and center for modern art installations; offering artisan shops, classic Texas town squares and various restaurants and bars for visitors to experience its charms.
Marfa is world-renowned as an artist's community, but also celebrated for its magical Marfa lights. These glowing orbs can be seen on clear nights between Marfa and Paisano Pass when one is facing southwest towards Chinati Mountains; they appear twinkling and moving around, sometimes even changing color before vanishing again later on. Marfa Lights Festival celebrates these spectacular lights every year by fans.
Marfa draws visitors with its distinct atmosphere. Restaurants that range from miso-glazed black cod with seaweed salad and giant burritos served from a small house have gained national renown, and boutique hotels and private accommodations offer guests luxury stays ranging from old adobe buildings to local materials with beautiful design elements incorporated. Marfa also hosts many historic landmarks, such as St Paul's Episcopal Church and Marfa Municipal Airport as well as National Public Radio-affiliated station KRTS.
