Shipping Container Floor Plans

Shipping container floor plans provide an affordable, eco-friendly alternative to traditional homes. Plus, these portable structures are easily customizable to match your individual style!

Shipping containers are compact, so when creating your home floor plan you must be creative to maximize space. To make your space seem bigger, add extra windows or doors. Connect multiple containers together to form two-story homes if desired; but be careful when adding doors and windows as cutting into steel walls can compromise their integrity and compromise structural integrity.

Considerations should also be given if you plan to use an extensive amount of electricity in your home. Due to being made from metal, shipping containers need insulation so as not to overheat in summertime. Furthermore, solar panel users will require adequate sunlight; placing their home in such an area would also help.

Once you have chosen a floor plan, it is time to begin creating your dream home! The first step should be laying a foundation. There are various foundation types available including trench, pile or slab foundations. Once this step has been completed, framing interior walls can begin as well as considering plumbing and electrical plans at this stage as well as adding roof protection against weather elements.
