Whether you're planning on attending the University of Miami or not, there are plenty of ways to get involved. Whether you want to join a sports club or volunteer at an event, there's plenty of ways to make yourself part of the college experience.

Academics

Regardless of your choice of degree program, University of Miami is one of the premier research universities in the country. Founded in 1925, the institution has over twenty-eight thousand alumni who are a part of a variety of fields, including art, professional athletics, and activism.

The University of Miami is a diverse academic community, with over one hundred different majors and more than a hundred graduate programs. In addition, the University of Miami is home to some of the most cutting-edge facilities in the country.

In addition to its main campus in Coral Gables, the University of Miami is spread out across 12 colleges and schools. The Honors College, for example, offers a wide array of compelling coursework taught by leading scholars.

Student organizations

UM is one of the most popular colleges in the country and has many opportunities to join student organizations. Whether you want to learn more about the university's history or you are simply looking for a way to have fun, there are several ways to get involved.

Student societies are organizations that promote a particular belief system or activity. These groups usually have open membership and can be a good place to meet other people. Some organizations have traditions that date back hundreds of years. These societies also often organize parties and festivals.

Student organizations are allowed to post on the Engage Calendar and participate in the annual Student Activity Fair. They can also receive funding from the University. University of Miami sports have a rich history, dating back to the first classes in the fall of 1926. The athletic department has a large alumni base, which includes five members of the Pro Football Hall of Fame. Founded in 1966, the University of Miami Sports Hall of Fame honors outstanding student-athletes and coaches. The Hall of Fame also recognizes outstanding administrators and sponsors an annual induction ceremony.

Transportation to Coral Gables campus

Getting from A to B in Coral Gables is a breeze thanks to the aforementioned metrorail as well as Metrobus routes 48, 56 and Midnight Owl (500) a. Similarly, you can get around Coral Gables by foot using the ubiquitous sidewalks. For the more adventurous, there's also a shuttle service to the nearby Magic City. There's also a free trolley service to be had in the area. Among the attractions of the Coral Gables metroplex is a bevy of enticing shopping, dining and entertainment options, the best of which can be found in the shops at Merrick Park. There's a reason why this upscale neighborhood is dubbed Miracle Mile.

Other schools in Florida

Founded in 1925, the University of Miami was chartered by a group of citizens to offer unique opportunities for inter-American studies and creative work in the arts. Its alumni have made a mark in many fields. These include art, professional athletics, activism and non-profit organization leadership.

The university has a campus in Coral Gables, Florida. This is the main campus and is home to the schools of Law, Herbert Business School, College of Engineering and Phillip and Patricia Frost School of Music. The campus is located on 239 acres of land. The campus is a 15-minute train ride from Downtown Miami.

The Coral Gables campus is also home to the University's intercollegiate athletic program. The sports teams compete in Division I of the National Collegiate Athletic Association. The basketball team plays home games at the Watsco Center.
