However, despite its unique location and breathtaking views, La Rinconada lacks some basic facilities and services necessary for an adequate standard of living.
One of the most critical issues faced by La Rinconada residents is the lack of access to clean water and proper sanitation facilities. The city's location high up in the Andes makes it difficult to supply water, resulting in contaminated water sources that cause waterborne diseases. There are no wastewater treatment plants in La Rinconada, making it challenging to handle the city's sewage appropriately.
Healthcare is another area where La Rinconada faces significant challenges. The city has only one hospital, and it lacks modern medical equipment and enough staff. The lack of healthcare facilities and resources has resulted in higher infant mortality rates and a higher incidence of illnesses such as tuberculosis and malaria.
Education is another area highly affected by the poor conditions in La Rinconada. Many children in the city are unable to attend school due to poverty. Furthermore, the quality of education is poor, with a lack of proper infrastructure and resources compromising academic facilities' security.
The city's location in the Andes makes transportation a difficult task, especially during the winter when road conditions significantly worsen. Road maintenance is inadequate, and there are no suitable transportation means within the city, resulting in difficulties for residents to access basic essential goods and services.
La Rinconada's high altitude and extreme weather conditions make it one of the most challenging cities to live in the world. However, with inadequate basic facilities and services, the lives of its residents are even more complicated. For La Rinconada to improve the standard of living for its people, it requires help from the government and aid organizations.
